Some of the most commonly heard utility stations are those supporting diplomatic communications between Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MFA) and their respective embassies and consulates.  These stations make almost exclusive use digital systems to send their messages. 

Although the past few years have seen a shift to satellite communications, a large number of countries still communicate regularly by HF radio using methods that can be decoded and identified readily by the hobbyist using only modest listening equipment

    MFA profiles organized by country including systems used, frequencies logged or reported, operating schedules and habits, callsigns used and sample messages.
